First Details On Stone Roses New Album… Sort of

Once upon a source there was some news that could be or could not be true. Good old UK Tabloid Rag The Sun has given a round about date of 2013 as to when fans can expect a new record from English rock band Stone Roses, who reformed in the latter half of last year… The thing is, the news is attributed to ‘a source in the camp’.

“John and Ian have been sending each other ideas for over a year now. During rehearsals they have tried some new songs and really felt that the old magic was still there with the songwriting,” a source in the camp revealed, “They have decided they will give it another spin with new music next year”.

There could be something to ‘a source in the camp’s’ claims as filmmaker Chris Coghill, who is working on a new film based on the Stone Roses’ storied gig at Spike Island in 1990, told BBC in May that he had been privy to some new material from the seminal quartet, claiming they “have at least three or four new songs”.

After reforming last year, the Stone Roses signed a new record deal in both the UK and US, and since then have played a handful of reunion gigs. A recent show in Amsterdam ended with Stone Roses’ frontman Ian Brown allegedly calling drummer Reni a ‘c*nt’ after leaving the venue instead of returning to the stage for an encore.
