Foo Fighters Announce First New Show Since “Hiatus”

Written by Sarah Bella on October 26, 2013

It’s like Christmas has come early, folks – Foo Fighters have just announced that they’re back in the game, dropping the date of their first proper live show since they went on hiatus last year. And hey, it might be all the way over in Mexico City, but we imagine this will only be the beginning.

The news came via a 10-second teaser video from Dave Grohl himself, in which he announces that The Foo will be coming to Mexico for the first time ever and that he “can’t fucking wait” (below). They then uploaded an image of the Foo Fighters logo with the Mexican flag incorporated to their Facebook account, before launching foofightersmexico.com, which lists the date of the show as 13th December, sending fans in Central America into a frenzy. And as if that couldn’t get anymore exciting, they’ve also mentioned that Ohio indie kings The National will be opening for them.

So what does this mean for us Foo fans Down Under? Well, we can definitely expect a new album from the Everlong outfit some time in the not-too-distant future, with Grohl himself revealing back in August that studio album number eight has already been written and will be released in 2014. He’s also told journos that recording is set to take place at Studio 606, the outfit’s own facility, and that he has a secret idea for the album that no-one’s ever tried before. Mmm, mysterious.

The Foos have also long been tipped to be making the journey back to Australia for live shows, with talk of them being one of the acts to play at South Australia’s redeveloped Adelaide Oval. We’re sure it’s just a matter of time before the band announce more live dates, so stay tuned to The Feeds and we’ll bring you the news as it comes to hand.
