The long-awaited album from the excellent Fruit Bats is on the way, with Pitchfork confirming that Tripper will come out on August 2 (US).
Fruit Bats, led by Eric D. Johnson (also a member of The Shins), released their previous record The Ruminant Band in 2009, a fine record that was universally applauded.
According to Fruit Bats’ label Sub Pop, the new album was recorded in Los Angeles with the venerated Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Devendra Banhart, Kevin Barker).
According to Sub Pop, “Having recently worked alone on soundtracks for an extended period, Johnson knew that he wanted Tripper to be more of a solitary pursuit than his previous album.”
Tripper is Fruit Bats’ fifth album in total.
