Grizzly Bear Announce One-Off Sydney Opera House Show For January

Grizzly Bear have thrown their name into the Falls Festival sideshow mix this morning, with the band now set to make their debut performance at the Sydney Opera House in January for a super special one-off performance.

By the time the band’s 2012 album Shields had dropped, Grizzly Bear already spent a considerable amount of time reigning supreme over the charts in a number of territories thanks to previous albums Yellow House and Veckatimest.

The latest album has been praised as the group’s most comprehensive to date, gathering elements from each member in what was the most democratic writing recording process yet.

Australia holds a special place in the heart of Grizzly Bear as they told triple j Magazine before their last visit for Harvest Festival 2012:

We fell in love with Australia on our first trip down there, and we are always anxious to come back. I think Australia is probably one of our favourite places to play… But it was so much fun playing both times we visited. The energy from the crowd is unparalleled, I would say. They’re right up there with Paris, London, Los Angeles… just amazing to play to.

With the warm alt country and indie pop sounds of their highly celebrated songbook now set to reverberate in the magic acoustics of the Sydney Opera House, this is a show that you’ll be kicking yourself if you miss.

Tickets go on sale Friday, 4th October via the Sydney Opera House website.
