James Blake released his lengthy third album The Colour In Anything last year but he’s already ready to give us some new music.
Speaking with The Fader Blake said, “I have some new music, and I am going to release some of it this summer.”
It doesn’t sound like he’s going to be rushing to put out a fourth album but we should definitely expect some standalone releases.
“I’ve just been making tunes. Is it going to be singles or a project? I think I’ve probably got a few single tunes but I don’t know if they’re singles,” he added.
“At some point I would like to release a record but at the moment I feel no need to rush myself.”
On top of his own solo material he’s also been working on, “hip-hop things” that he’s not allowed to speak about yet. He had a production credit on Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., worked with Vince Staples last year and also wrote some songs on Frank Ocean’s Blonde, so his hip-hop resumé is already strong.
He’s keen to do more stuff with Kendrick saying, “We’ll see about the future but hopefully we’ll be able to sit down and piece things together.”
It sounds like there are plenty of things to look forward to from camp Blake.
