Janelle Monae cancels Good Vibes appearance

Written by Michael Carr on January 20, 2011

Janelle Monae has joined Cee-Lo Green in ditching her appearance at Good Vibrations in favour of perfroming at the Grammys. Monae, who released her incredible album The ArchAndroid last year, confirmed the news over Twitter, posting “:-D !’m Very thankful to be performing at The 2011 Grammy Awards!!!!”

Good Vibrations issued this statement confirming the news:
“On behalf of Jam Music, we can confirm that Janelle Monáe has just been added to the line up to perform at the Grammy awards on February 13th. This last minute announcement from the Recording Academy unfortunately means that Janelle Monáe will no longer be able to appear at the 2011 Good Vibrations Festival as planned.”

A bit of a spit in the face of all her fans over here if you ask me, especially considering the Grammys has to be the lowest of all awards ceremonies, coming just ahead of our ARIAs. I suppose the international television coverage had something to with it. Oh well I still love the album so excuse me while I go on and pretend like this shocking case of disrespect never happened.
