Lana Del Rey Details “Noirish” Third Album, ‘Honeymoon’

Lana Del Rey has revealed she already has nine original songs ready for her next album, which will be titled Honeymoon. The record will follow up last year’s album Ultraviolence and according to Del Rey, production on four of those nine songs is “perfect”.

“I’m looking for a few more songs to tie everything together,” Del Rey told Billboard about her progress on the new record. She described the new album as being “very different from the last one” and more similar in sound to her 2012 album Born to Die and EP Paradise.

“I finished my last one [Ultraviolence] in March and released it in June and I had a follow-up idea. It’s growing into something I really like. I’m kind of enjoying sinking into this more noirish feel for this one. It’s been good.”

Del Rey also revealed she plans on including a cover of Nina Simone’s Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood on the new record, following from her cover of Simone’s The Other Woman on Ultraviolence. “I like summarising the record with a jazz song,” she said. “I’m having fun with my interpretation.”

Del Rey is also currently a favourite to score an Academy Award nomination for her two contributions to the soundtrack for Tim Burton’s latest film Big Eyes, I Can Fly and Big Eyes, the latter of which is already up for a Golden Globe.
