Linkin Park Unveil Details Of New Album ‘The Hunting Party’

Following last month’s release of a new single, Guilty All The Same, and news that their upcoming album will feature contributions from members of System Of A Down and Helmet, Linkin Park have now unveiled the cover art and a North American release date for The Hunting Party.

Earlier this week, Music Feeds reported the news that Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda had unveiled five songs from The Hunting Party — a title which at the time had not yet been confirmed by the band — to a small gathering of industry professionals in New York City earlier this month.

Now, in a new interview with Noisey, Shinoda has described the album as a return to the band’s heavier roots and says they set out to make a record that would inspire their “15-year-old selves” to pick up a guitar, saying, “There’s so much music out there; there’s so much stuff that sounds like Haim or CHVRCHES or Vampire Weekend that I’m full. The thing I’m hungry for is not that.”

“I turn on the rock station in LA and it sounds like Disney commercial music,” he continues. “I’m confused by that. The dude from Foster the People was literally a jingle writer. No disrespect, but for me to make that stuff was [out of the question]… We wanted to impress our inner teenager.”

Shinoda says that the a “five-song sampler” is currently being toured around for “journalists and our label” in order to prepare them for what he describes as, “a bit of a challenge. This is going to be a hard sell for rock radio, I knew that going in.” The Hunting Party is out in the US on 17th June.
