Recently reunited grunge legends Soundgarden have released their first new material in 15 years. Titled Live To Rise, it will appear on the soundtrack for the new Avengers movie, which will be released in Australia on the 25th May.
Previously we heard a 22-second snippet that contained what appeared to be an epic guitar intro, but with no vocals, from frontman Chris Cornell. Now we’ve heard the full song, with vocals, it finally can take us back to the days of hearing Black Hole Sun and Spoonman for the first time.
As for a new album, its announcement came last year and has been hotly anticipated ever since. Cornell spoke in a recent interview with Triple M saying “It sounds like Soundgarden.. but I wouldn’t say it’s similar.. I think there are parts of it that are there to remind everybody of us, but we’ve always progressed from album to album.”
Soundgarden should also return to Australia soon to do a proper headlining tour, after visiting us earlier this year on the Big Day Out 2012 lineup.
