Roll the bloody hell over DJ, because it looks like beloved Aussie rock sons Jet are getting the old band back together.
The rumour mill is firing with chatter that the early noughties Melbourne rawkers are getting ready to Get Born (again), and will be reuniting in 2017 to support the one and only Bruce Springsteen when he inevitably tours Australia.
Though The Boss’s Aussie tour hasn’t officially been announced yet, legendary promoter Michael Gudinski has all but confirmed that it’ll be going down in early 2017, a time period he also reckons will mark “The biggest run of concerts you’ve seen… ever.”
Of course, since the Frontier Touring top dog spilled the beans, part of his prediction has already come to fruition, with Guns N’ Roses announcing their historic Not In This Lifetime reunion tour will be hitting stages Down Under in February.
And, needless to say, a Jet reunion would add more than just a couple of extra inches of girth to the touring Godzilla that is set to assault Australia early next year.
According to the gossip kweens over at Fairfax Media, the Are You Gonna Be My Girl hitmakers will support Springsteen and the E Street Band on all of their Down Under dates, bar one at Victoria’s Hanging Rock.
And the shows look set to be a mean combo of open-air concerts and indoor arena gigs.
“There will be outdoor shows… maybe the Hunter Valley, where he played in 2014 and probably AAMI Park in Melbourne – but also arena shows,” Fairfax reports. “That most likely means venues such as the newly/awfully named Qudos Bank Arena (formerly Allphones, one time Superdome), in Sydney.”
But they also reckon there’s some bad news for all you non-East Coasters: “Perth and Adelaide, who had their first shows on the 2014 tour, will miss out.”
It comes after Jet were hotly rumoured to be reuniting to support AC/DC on their Rock Or Bust tour late last year, but those whispers never turned into screams.
Lets hope these ones do.
UPDATE 11/09/16: Jet totally just stoked those reunion rumours big time.
UPDATE 13/09/216: The rumours have all been confirmed with Jet being announced as main support for The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen on the forthcoming 2017 tour.
