Mothers Of Invention’s Jim Sherwood dies age 69

Jim ‘Moterhead’ Sherwood from Frank Zappa’s Mother Of Invention has died aged 69, passing away a few days ago on Christmas Day.

Featuring on the albums 200 Motels, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Weasels Ripped My Flesh and We’re Only In It For The Money playing sax as well as contributing vocals and vocal effects, Sherwood and Zappa met as children, with Sherwood being in the same class at school as Zappa’s brother Bobby. Sherwood played in Zappa’s first band The Blackouts and originally joined the Mothers as a roadie, adding some vocal effects to their first album Freak Out before joining as a full-time member.
