Following the departure of their long term drummer, Tony Thaxton, Motion City Soundtrack are pleased to announce that they have found a worthy replacement. Drum roll please… Filling in behind the kit on a full-time basis will be Saves The Day sticks man Claudio Rivera.
Loyal fans will know that Rivera has filled in the position for the band on a number of occasions including when Thaxton broke his arm in 2009 and again as a temporary fixture earlier this year when Thaxton initially jumped ship.
It’s safe to say the dude will know his way around a drum kit and by now he will be well aquatinted with the jams in the band’s live show. His baptism by fire will come in the form of the Vans Warped tour this summer, with the band encouraging fans to give the new member a warm welcoming.
The band is also currently working on their 6th studio album, the hotly anticipated follow up to 2012’s Go.
Full statement below:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, let us be the first to introduce you to our newest member: Claudio Rivera! He is an old friend who has played many roles in our life as a band over the years. We are very excited to embark on this musical journey with him at the drum helm. Be sure and give him the glad hand should you spot him this summer at the Vans Warped Tour. Hell, that goes for any of us. Take care and we’ll see you soon.”
