A new hip hop festival named ‘Movement’ has just been announced, to be curated by New York rapper Nas, and launching in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth this April, featuring a lineup of international and Australian talent. His involvement with the festival will last for three years and work with festivals all around the world.
Nas himself will be leading the lineup and joined by the likes of 2 Chainz, Joey Bada$$, Chiddy Bang and Aussie hip hop acts such as Bliss N Eso, Spit Syndicate and Thundamentals.
Speaking to triplej, Nas commented on his plans and excitement of being able to bring such an event to our shores, saying: “This is big man. I’m launching the tour, Movement, I’m the curator of the festival and I’m doing it with a bunch of great acts, great guys and females on the scene. A crew of everybody you want to see just to make this movement a real movement.”
“It’s exciting to come to Australia, a place that I love, and to have Bliss n Eso with us… it just shows you the connection of hip hop music is strong,”
triple j is also expected to announce a bunch of local Unearthed winners for each city in the following weeks. Tickets for Movement are on sale Monday 11th February.
