Music Sales On Bandcamp Will Now Count Towards The ARIA Charts

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Charts are now more up to speed with the current climate of independent music, because now your Bandcamp page could just land you a spot on the ARIA Charts.

An ARIA spokesperson tells Music Feeds, “We are very excited to be able to include Bandcamp sales into the ARIA Charts. This platform that has become increasingly important for artists, in particular independent artists, to sell their music to their fans so it is integral that the ARIA Charts can reflect these sales.”

Bandcamp is an online platform for signed and independent artists to stream and sell their music to fans, and even sell their merchandise. It’s an awesome place to discover new music which might not be getting played on the radio, or was created by up-and-coming acts from around the country (and the world).

Bandcamp says that to date, fans have paid artists USD$177 million through Bandcamp, with USD$4.9 million coming in over the last 30 days alone.

The 2016 ARIA Awards will be taking place in November, and all of the nominees were announced earlier this week.
