Phoenix Australian Tour Announcement May Be Cancelled Or Postponed

French guitar pop mavens Phoenix may not be heading to Australia in 2014, with promoters Live Nation tweeting that they’re unable to make the massive tour announce they’ve been hyping, widely speculated to be a Down Under visit from the indie quartet.

Promoters Live Nation had promised a “BIG tour announcement” for this week, posting a 1910 picture of the Phoenix Military Band of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, leading to anyone with half a brain speculating that the so-hot-right-now outfit would be dropping Australian dates like hotcakes.

Frontman Thomas Mars had also all but locked in the tour, telling triplej‘s Tom and Alex, “We talked about it yesterday and we’re [touring] for sure in March. The whole month is clear for us so we’ll be enjoying some Australian sun then.”

But something seems to have gone awry, with Live Nation dropping the disappointing news that there would be no big announce. After being asked by disgruntled fans when exactly the news would drop, the company replied with “Terribly sorry, but due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to announce this particular tour.”

Phoenix are currently on a world tour behind their fifth studio album, Bankrupt!, which has already seen them play Coachella festival in California and Glastonbury in the UK. Here at Feeds, we’ll bring you up-to-the-minute details on their Aussie tour plans as soon as they come to hand.
