Sydney’s The Art have put the “star” in “rockstar” with the out-of-this-word music video for their swaggering new single ‘Thinking About The Universe’.
The pupil-dilating acid trip of a clip brings their riotous dose of vintage glam-laced modern rock n’ roll to life in spectacularly OTT fashion. Helmed by award-winning director Tanzeal Rahim of The Media Collective, the vid features the foursome gyrating through the cosmos and reaches a kooky zenith when tublord Jordan McDonald morphs into a majestic pink unicorn.
Frontman Azaria Byrne, who rocks an outfit that would make Star Wars’ Queen Armidala froth, reckons the whole thing was just as fun to make as it is to watch.
“The Media Collective was really professional and so sharp with their planning that I just got to walk around making jokes keeping peoples spirits high, eg click here,” he explains, using the internet. “I also got to keep the 5-metre trampoline we used for just one out of space shot in the shoot. It takes up my whole backyard and now has a pentagram painted on it. I sit in the centre of it in the middle of the night and meditate.”
“I was really excited and couldn’t sleep before both days of filming. Even though there is a pattern within chaos and reoccurring patterns within chaos, we keep the whole concept abstract and gestural. I mean who the hell has seen a unicorn play for The Art before?” #Horny
