Reformed Beach Boys Touring Australia

Written by Brayden Darke on April 26, 2012

After recent news this week that The Beach Boys have finished recording their 29th studio album in Los Angeles, they’ve now hit the road to begin their 50th anniversary tour, kicking off in North America. Having confirmed dates throughout Europe, they’ve now confirmed that they will also tour Australia, along with Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Update: Beach Boys Australian Tour Confirmed For August

The remaining original lineup — Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, David Marks and Brian Wilson (who hasn’t toured with the band in over two decades) — will be hitting our shores with dates to be announced soon.

The new record features all of the surviving members, and will comprise all totally original songs. Bruce Johnston spoke to Billboard, saying that the record is driven by the collaboration of Brian Wilson and Mike Love.

“There’s a lot of what you’d hope to hear from Brian (Wilson) on there. It’s not a quilt or a pot luck dinner; it’s not like, ‘OK, everybody show up with your songs’. It’s not one of those kind of albums. There’s a lot of Brian in there, and Mike (Love). It’s just nice to know there is a Mike Love and a Brian Wilson still around to write together.”

The album’s lead single That’s Why God Made The Radio was previewed on Tuesday. Listen to the full track below:
