Rick Rubin Does The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge The Right Way

When Eminem throws the gauntlet, one must rise to the challenge, and that’s just what Rick Rubin did. Much as we enjoyed Foo Fighters’ deft take on Carrie for their ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, producer Rick Rubin took things to a whole different level and possibly even another dimension.

Renowned for his yogi-like approach to record production, it was only fitting that the Def Jam founder’s Ice Bucket Challenge was a transcendental affair that saw the famously bearded guru eschew the ubiquitous bucket for an entire tub filled to the brim with ice, submerging himself entirely.

After sitting calmly in the ice, seemingly engrossed in prayer, Rubin extended the challenge to R&B singer Frank Ocean, artist and filmmaker Vincent Gallo, and actor Owen Wilson, though we highly doubt that any of the three will be able to match the feat that the great Rubin accomplished.

Though, according to rapper Dean Ditty, if you wanna do it right, Rubin’s method is the only way to go. “The whole point of this ALS [Challenge] is it’s a disease that shuts down everything in your body… so when the ice water hits you, you’re supposed to feel what ALS is,” he explains below.
