Sia’s Aussie Tour Tickets Are Already Being Flogged By Scalpers For $800

Sia‘s long-awaited 2017 Australian tour went on sale this morning, and tickets for the tour have already been advertised for sale by scalpers for up to $800 a piece.

Music Feeds has spotted tickets to Sia’s upcoming Melbourne show being advertised on controversial Swiss-based resale site Viagogo for up to $820, despite originally costing $179 each. Meanwhile, tickets to her Sydney show are up for as much as $530.

Elsewhere, the Ticketmaster Resale website is currently listing a number of Sia tickets for as much as $480 a piece.

Sia is scheduled to return to Australia this November for shows in Melbourne and Sydney, supported by Charli XCX, MØ and Amy Shark. The tour previously courted controversy after fans called the two-show schedule “arrogant”, especially given that it doesn’t include a show in Sia’s hometown of Adelaide. Tour promoters Chugg Entertaiment have said that no further shows will be added to the tour.

Sia is one of the latest artists to have tickets to their upcoming Australian tour scalped for hundreds of dollars more than their original price, after the likes of Ed Sheeran and Green Day were also affected earlier this year.

Thankfully, Australia now has a new ticket resale site which is hoping to stop scalpers in their tracks by helping fans buy and sell tickets for their face value (or less).

Viagogo was referred to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) earlier this year by consumer advocacy group CHOICE for “dodgy pricing practices”.
