The organisers of Splendour In The Grass have announced the dates for the 2014 instalment of one of Australia’s most beloved three-day camping and musical events. Splendour 2014 will once again take place on the last weekend of July at its home at the North Byron Parklands in Byron Bay.
The event first came to the North Byron Parklands last year, after several years of lobbying by the organisers. According to the official press release, on-site camping will be available from Wednesday, 23rd July. “Music lovers! It’s time to request your annual leave!” announced organisers.
While Splendour 2014 shares similarities with the 2013 instalment in dates and venue, organisers have assured punters that they have taken their feedback into account in organising this year’s event. Complaints about last year’s event included long waits and ill-managed logistics.
“It is our first year at our new home and we feel we laid the best plans. However they have not been executed to the standard Splendour has always prided itself on,” read a statement issued by organisers on their official Facebook page after the conclusion of the 2013 event.
“We received a wealth of feedback, ideas and useful information,” write festival organisers, who had 2013 punters fill out a survey describing their experience at SITG. “We’ll keep you up to date with the improvements and extra curricular activities we have in store for Splendour 2014.”
“And if you attended the Falls Festival Byron and were wondering, we can tell you right now that the site layout for Splendour 2014 will include North Byron Parklands’ beautiful natural amphitheatre,” they add, further explaining why organisers pushed so hard for their new location.
Among the names rumoured for the lineup are UK trio London Grammar, singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow, stylish polymath Sky Ferreira, and recently reformed hip-hop legends Outkast. Readers can check out Music Feeds’ breakdown of SITG 2014 lineup rumours right here.
