The National will be playing at Splendour In The Grass 2013. According to triple j, frontman Matt Berninger confirmed to triple j magazine journo Samantha Clode that the band are heading to Byron come July.
The American indie rockers have long been rumoured as a Splendour act, with their sixth studio album Trouble Will Find Me scheduled for release in Australia on Tuesday, 21st May. The record has an impressive list of collaborators, including Sufjan Stevens, Richard Reed Parry from Arcade Fire, St Vincent and Sharon Van Etten. The second single from the album, Don’t Swallow The Cap (below), was released last week, in quick succession to their first, Demons.
The National last toured Australia in 2011 to play Harvest, Falls Festival and Southbound. Other confirmed acts for Splendour include James Blake, The Polyphonic Spree and Airbourne.
