Last week there was doubt about whether the Chinese government would allow Bob Dylan to perform his shows later this year.
But Chinese promoters Gehua-LiveNation have announced the shows have been approved, which means that Bob Dylan will play in China for the first time in his long spanding career.
Dylan was supposed to play Beijing and Shanghai last year but the shows were cancelled for undisclosed reasons. The Chinese government are careful about the types of musical acts that could influence their people, Dylan being tied in with 60’s protest movement might have given them reason to be cautious.
Other Asian concerts have been booked in, such as, Hong Kong on April 12th and in Singapore on April 15th. Rumour has is that Dylan will perform in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on April 10th.
Bob Dylan will play Australian shows throughout April as well.
