VIDEO: Iggy Pop’s Final Stage Dive

Written by Daniel Clarke on March 31, 2010

You might have heard this already, but on February 26th Iggy Pop played a Tibet House benefit concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall. During the classic ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ Iggy launched into one of his trademark stage dives… and no one was there to catch him. Seriously.

In an interview with Rolling Stone a week later, Pop said “when I landed, it hurt, and I made a mental note that Carnegie Hall would be a good place for my last stage dive.” It’s a sad day indeed when Iggy Pop decides to tone it down, even a little.

Anyway, here’s a clip of the incident. The fall is in the first ten seconds or so.

All I can say is that when Iggy Pop launches off a stage right in front of you, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO CATCH HIM!
