The xx Announce New Album ‘I See You’, Share First Single ‘On Hold’

Hot on the heels of a fairly progressive teasing campaign, The xx have come clean, officially announcing their upcoming album I See You. To make the most of the moment, the band have also unveiled the lead single On Hold.

Fans will be excited to know that the band haven’t ventured too far from their tried and true soundscape. But hey, if it ain’t broke…

On Hold (below) is the first official offering from the band since their previous two albums xx and Coexist, which collectively have shifted a fairly mental 3 million units worldwide, hence all the anticipation.

Taking to socials today, The xx say:

“After many years, close together, far apart, great highs, deep lows, heartache and healing, we are so happy to let you know we are releasing our 3rd album ‘I See You’ on January 13th 2017. ⠀

“We realise these are uncertain times and we hope the joy and love we found making the record will find its way out into the world, in however small a way.”

To their credit, the band actually found a unique way to promote and tease the album. Prior to hitting the studio, they compiled an inspo playlist then went and uploaded on of their own unreleased, unheard studio cuts to it.

From here on in, however, it’s only full tracks and legit singles from the band. That is, until they release the full album on Friday, 13th January.
