You Am I Lead Melbourne Music Week’s First 2018 Program Announcement

UPDATE: Melbourne Music Week’s Full 2018 Lineup Is Here

ORIGINAL STORY: Melbourne Music Week has announced its 2018 return, and the first list of acts who’ll be part of this year’s program.

Leading the announcement are legendary Aussie rockers You Am I, who will be making their MMW debut. They’ll be headlining a concert at Melbourne Town Hall, with support from New War.

There’s also a whole stack of other events announced today. It’s all kicking off with an opening party curated by Heaps Gay that’ll feature with performances from Kira Puru and Maribelle.

Other acts playing throughout the week include disco legend Renée Geyer, Aussie singer-songwriters Ainslie Wills, Gretta Ray and Angie McMahon, Rival Consoles, Mark Pritchard, Andy Garvey, Nadia Rose and more.

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) has also been announced as the official hub of MMW.

Councillor Rohan Leppert, Chair of the City of Melbourne’s Arts, Culture and Heritage portfolio said, “MMW has a history of transforming Melbourne landmarks into live music venues. The choice of ACMI as our 2018 Hub aligns with our mission to create a unique event that supports and celebrates Melbourne’s thriving music industry.”

The full program is being revealed on Tuesday, 2nd October, before Melbourne Music Week takes place in mid-November. Check out the full first announcement deets, below.
