You Am I Announce 21-Date ‘Hi-Fi Way’ Anniversary Tour

You Am I have announced an extensive national Australian tour, which will see them continue the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations for their second studio album Hi-Fi Way. The new tour will see the band play the album in full every night, as well as selections from across their 11-album discography. The tour announcement comes as the veteran Australian band are closing in on the end of their Hi-Fi Daily Double Down national tour, which saw them performing both Hi-Fi Way and its follow-up, 1996’s Hourly, Daily, in their respective entireties. It marks the second time the band have followed this show format, with the original Hi-Fi Daily Double tour having taken place in 2013.

You Am I – ‘Jewels And Bullets’

Hi-Fi Way remains one of You Am I’s most successful albums. It topped the ARIA Charts upon release, making up a hat trick that includes Hourly, Daily and 1998’s #4 Record of three consecutive number-one albums. Hi-Fi Way was later certified Gold by ARIA, and won Best Alternative Release at that year’s ARIA Awards. In early 1996, the band scored three entries in the 1995 triple j Hottest 100: ‘Jewels And Bullets’ at 94, ‘Cathy’s Clown’ at 84 and ‘Purple Sneakers’ at 24.
