Footage has surfaced of an incident at the recent Montreal leg of the Vans Warped Tour involving The Story So Far frontman Parker Cannon, an unfortunate crowd-surfer, and an overzealous security guard. After seeing security shoving a fan, Cannon decided to jump off stage and step in.
As Alternative Press reports, during the intro to the band’s song Daughters, Cannon and guitarist Will Levy spotted a security guard — who can be seen in the footage embedded below wearing a black bucket hat — roughly handling an allegedly crowd-surfing fan and throwing him to the ground.
Levy immediately stopped playing and removed his guitar, while Cannon jumped off stage to confront the aggressive guard. After a scuffle that also involved Alan Day of Four Year Strong and several other security guards, the band eventually returned to the stage and resumed playing.
Taking to Twitter, Warped founder Kevin Lyman confirmed he is aware of the incident and that the footage has been shared with “the local security company” to be “[dealt] with.” Lyman stressed to followers that each venue has over 100 local security guards and “sometimes there is a bad egg.”
Lyman also tweeted in seeming solidarity with Cannon’s actions, telling a follower, “no one said he was wrong.” Meanwhile, the band had nothing but good things to say about their Montreal experience, taking to Twitter to write, “Thank you Canada!! We love you! We will be back soon.”
