Australia-based pop star Troye Sivan has covered Amy Winehouse’s 2006 single Love is A Losing Game. Filmed for Vevo Presents, it was a stripped back, sweaty, and heartfelt performance.
LGBTQI-advocate Sivan has had a massive 2016, receiving a nomination for an MTV Music Award, and finding himself in the media after slamming PM Malcolm Turnbull over his response to the shooting in Orlando.
Now he’s put his own spin on a Winehouse classic, 10 years after it was written. The performance consisted of just electric keys and Sivan’s voice right up front and center, giving the song a whole lot of room for expression and space, and also holding the audiences attention from the beginning to the end.
It’s really of no surprise that Sivan chose to cover this song, as he stated in an interview last year that his all-time favourite tune is Whinehouse’s Wake Up Alone.
