UPDATE 19/09/2016: Topshop has responded to Laura Jane Grace via Twitter and removed the jacket from sale.
Giant retailer Topshop has started selling a jacket with Against Me!‘s name emblazoned on the arm of it and the band are understandably pissed about it.
Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace took to Twitter to call out Topshop writing, “Hey @Topshop, you’re selling a $700 leather jacket with my bands name on it and you have no permission. Not cool.”
Someone on Twitter quipped back to her saying it was “public domain” but she replied saying that she in fact owns the trademark.
“Even the font they used is stolen,” she continued.
Since being discovered by Grace the garment has been taken off the online website.
Another band featured on the jacket, The Vandals have also spoken out on social media simply asking their fans, “What kind of a person do you think buys this kind of garment?”
This isn’t the first time Topshop have been in trouble for yanking someone’s name or image. In 2013, Rihanna won a lawsuit in the UK against the retailer because they were selling a tee with her face on it.
Topshop are yet to respond to the latest jacket controversy.
