Melbourne Punters Slam “Shocking” RnB Fridays Live Event

RnB Fridays Live’s social media platforms have been inundated by angry punters asking for refunds, following its Melbourne show on Saturday.

Concert-goers’ list of complaints include long waits for food, drinks and toilets, poor sound quality, and alleged venue safety issues.

There were concerns about the show being an all ages event, with no IDs being checked at the bars, attendees smoking inside, and no bags being checked.

One attendee, Melissa Richardson was so frustrated that she created a public Facebook group dubbed RnB live Melbourne robbed us…refund our money now and — as she told triple j’s Hack — within 48 hours of creating it, more than a thousand people had vented their frustrations on the page.

“I’ve been to a lot of concerts and this was the worst one ever,”  Melissa told Hack.

“It was a shit show. The sound quality was so terrible that people left midway through the concert.

“There was no way they could not have known it was bad.”

Another attendee, Anthony Anthony told the radio program: “The female toilets were so overpacked that they resorted to using the men’s urinals by the hundreds.”

The likes of UsherNaughty By NatureLil Jon, Salt N Pepa, T-Pain, Trey Songz and Eve performed as part of the event, which will now head to Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney over the coming days.

When questioned over the mass of gripes at the Melbourne leg, RNB Fridays Live’s event organisers and Melbourne Stadiums Limited told Hack: “RNB Fridays Live event on Saturday night was hugely popular with over 50,000 people attending. While some of the concerns raised were addressed on the night, we understand that some of our guests remain dissatisfied by their experience.

“We take patron comments seriously and are following up all concerns regarding Saturdays event.”

There are now accusations that one of the event’s organisers, Fox FM have turned off comments on their social media posts.

Organisers have asked for feedback and complaints to be directed to feedback@rnbfridayslive.com.
