Hottest 100 Winners Ocean Alley Return With Moody New Jam, ‘Stained Glass’

Hot on the heels of conquering the Hottest 100 of 2018 with their slow groover ‘Confidence’, Ocean Alley have returned with a brand new slice of jam toast.

It’s called ‘Stained Glass’ and it’s a moody, down-tempo, surf-rock-soul chiller, packing plenty of slide guitar and swirling organs that conjure visions of hazy drunken sunsets.

“’Stained Glass’ is the first song we have written since the release of Chiaroscuro and began, as most of our songs do, with a chord and vocal idea for a verse that Baden envisioned,” the band explains.

“We recorded and mixed the track at the Grove Studios with our producer Callum Howell over two sessions with a focus on guitar tone and interwoven guitar parts – as has always been a staple in our production. In the early writing stages we realised it was a great platform to explore guitar production in its entirety and with the help of newly acquired equipment and instruments we were able to create a spacious arrangement using interjecting guitar parts and organ sounds to embellish the rhythmic guitar strumming.”

‘Stained Glass’ comes packing a tranquil music video and also marks the first taste of new music we’ve had from the band since their ‘Confidence’-housing album Chiaroscuro dropped last March.

Wrap your ears around it below, and ICYMI you can catch Ocean Alley jumping onstage for a short performance at tonight’s Don’t Kill Live Music rally in Sydney, before kicking off 12 shows with Tash Sultana on her national tour from this Friday.
