Triple J’s Like A Version Is Taking A Break Due To COVID-19

Triple j is taking a break from its beloved Like A Version for a little while. It’s been running for 16 years strong, but the Friday morning cover segment is now the latest Coronavirus cancellation.

It’s due to new guidelines the ABC are following to limit the potential spread of the virus.

“After today’s performance from The Naked And Famous, there won’t be a new Like A Version for the foreseeable future,” say triple j.

“We know, it sucks. But it’s the most sensible decision we could make after consultation with the powers that be.

“Again, we’re really bummed it’s come to this. We know that with so many concerts and festivals being postponed, or worse cancelled, that getting fresh live Like A Versions on your airwaves and in your feeds would brighten your week.”

They have a small saving grace for us though. A consolation prize if you will. Triple j will be digging into their archives each Friday to bring us some of the best Like a Versions from the past decade.

They’ll even be playing the segment’s opening sting from that Like A Version’s year.

“Having no new Like A Versions blows, but we think this will be a lotta fun,” says triple j.

They said that while Kite String Tangle was up for Like A Version this week, the new guidelines made it impossible. We’ve been assured that Kite String Tangle will be the first return Like A Version.

The Naked and Famous taking on The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ will be our last Like A Version for a little while. Stay tuned for that later this morning.

Triple j has also assured us that they’ll begin recording the special covers again as soon as they can.
