Haiku Hands’ New ‘Fashion Model Art’ Video Is A Fabulous Swirl Of Bodies And Movement

Late last month, Haiku Hands returned with their latest banger, Sofi Tukker collab ‘Fashion Model Art’. A tongue-in-cheek skewering of social etiquette and self-absorption, the band says their latest “celebrates the fashion model art character within ourselves. We revel in the hilarious, tense, fun, ridiculous and utmost seriousness of these moments.” It arrived alongside news the collective’s debut, self-titled album would be out in the world next month.

The track now has an accompanying video, a heavily choreographed swirl of human bodies and movement that was filmed in Sydney by director Jasmin Tarasin. “Haiku Hands are in fact a wonderful collision of fashion, model and art in the very best way,” says Tarasin.

“It was so inspiring to be able to play and create with these women in collaboration with our combined creative community. I enjoyed the process so much and feel that the fun and beauty we found is seen on screen.”

The band’s forthcoming debut album was primarily recorded in Melbourne with Joel Ma (Joelistics) and, in addition to their Sofi Tukker collab, features contributions from Mad Zach, Machine Drum, Mirac, Elgusto of Hermitude and Lewis Cancut.

“The record explores an attitude of empowerment, humour and positivity whilst also delving into darker themes and expressions,” comment the band. “We aimed to be original in our creative choices, we were influenced by multiple genres and artists but were aiming to create something that sounded new and different.”
