THIS THAT Festival Postpones 2021 Events In Newcastle And Queensland

Last year, beloved Newcastle-based festival THIS THAT announced a pair of dates for February 2021 – one in its hometown, and another in Sandstone Point, Queensland. In November, they dropped a truly stacked lineup that included the likes of Allday, Dune Rats, Jack River, Mallrat, The Presets, Wafia and many more.

Now, organisers have been forced to postpone those dates amid new outbreaks of COVID-19 and resultant restrictions around large gatherings and interstate travel. The festival is now set to take place on Saturday, 30th October at Sandstone Point and Saturday, 6th November in Newcastle.

“Due to State Government and current standing Federal Government Public Health Orders regarding COVID-19, multi-stage mass music gathering events are not permissible in ‘true’ festival format just yet,” organisers commented in a statement.

“Coupled with planning timelines, this has made it impossible for us to deliver the well-loved THIS THAT festival format by February – one that would both satisfy current government compliance, and more importantly give you the full THIS THAT experience you’ve come to love.”

THIS THAT urged ticketholders to hang on to their tickets if possible, but noted that refunds are available here for those who are unable to attend the new dates. Organisers added that they’re currently working with their lineup to lock artists in for rescheduled dates.

We’re really sorry THIS THAT fam, we knew this wouldn’t be easy & this news is going to sting.
