Jimmy Barnes Cancels National ‘Flesh And Blood’ Tour

COVID claims another Australian tour: this time, it’s Jimmy Barnes who is having to can a national run thanks to consistent outbreaks across the country.

Barnes’ September tour to promote his latest album Flesh And Blood, was initially set to kick off with a show at Brisbane’s Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 2nd.

The nine show tour, meant to take Barnes right around the country in Spring, unfortunately cannot be rescheduled; having already been shifted once already.

“My band, my crew and music fans around the country are all doing it really tough right now,” the performer’s said. While the cancellation of the gigs is heartbreaking for everyone involved, Barnes remains positive that there is some hope in a return to normal, once vaccines become normalised.

“These latest round of cancelled gigs will be yet another kick in the guts for them at a really bad time. Hopefully if we all do the right thing and get vaccinated as soon as possible, then we’ll be enjoying gigs together before too much longer.”

Ticketholders for the upcoming Jimmy Barnes dates will be contacted directly from their relevant ticketing agencies. If you bought a ticket via credit or debit card, you’ll receive an automatic refund.

The Cold Chisel frontman has been open about his disappointment in government officials’ lack of action when it comes to helping the live music sector in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s a real pity that the QLD and SA governments haven’t bothered to match these other States by introducing similar schemes,” he has said, referring to recently announced State government plans to compensated promoters and tour workers on this tour in WA, NSW and Victoria.

“I don’t know what they’re waiting for. The music community is really on its knees right now, so I think QLD and SA should seriously consider stepping up like the other states have already done.”

Meanwhile, Barnes is working on an extensive run of tour dates for 2022 by which point, the Flesh And Blood album will be well and truly ready to be unleashed at maximum power and force.

To ease the blow of this tour cancellation, fans are being offered an exclusive discount on the merch that would have been appearing at each date, with profits from the sales going direct to the Jimmy Barnes band and crew. To check the range out, head on over to the online store here.
