Welp, Eminem Is Opening a Restaurant in Detroit Called Mom’s Spaghetti

Eminem is opening a restaurant in his native Detroit that takes inspiration from his 8 Mile hit ‘Lose Yourself’. Mom’s Spaghetti is set to launch on September 29 in the Michigan city, its title lifted from the track’s lyrics: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.

A 30-second ad spot shows Em vomiting up pasta and offers a sneak peek at some of the dishes that will be on offer – pasta, meatballs and spaghetti sandwiches. It ends with the tagline “Mom’s Spaghetti: It’s all ready“, a further nod to the 2002 track.

According to Newsweek, the diner is part of a partnership with local restaurant group Union Joints. Consequence, meanwhile, reports that there will also be a retail store attached called The Trailer which will stock Em merch.

It’s not the first time Em has debuted the endeavour. In 2017, a pop-up version of the diner opened at The Shelter, a basement club in Detroit. Last year, the rapper donated hundreds of meals to healthcare workers in Detroit hospitals in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Images emerged of tubs of spaghetti with the same branding featured in the restaurant ad, along with a thankyou to frontline workers and the Shady Records logo.
