Watch Kacey Musgraves Ring in SNL’s 47th Season with ‘Justified’ and ‘Camera Roll’

Kacey Musgraves was the musical guest on the first episode of Saturday Night Live‘s 47th season over the weekend, hosted by Owen Wilson. During her appearance, the singer-songwriter performed ‘Justified’ and ‘Camera Roll’ – two cuts from her fifth studio album Star-Crossed, which arrived last month.

For ‘Justified’, Musgraves recreated a scene from Forrest Gump in which Robin Wright’s character performed nude behind an acoustic guitar – with Musgraves later tweeting a still from the scene after her performance. For her performance of ‘Camera Roll’, meanwhile, Musgraves began seated at a table, while on the other end an array of photographs of different people cycled through.

Musgraves released Star-Crossed, the follow-up to 2018’s Golden Hour, in early September. The singer released the album alongside a film of the same name which premiered on Paramount+. Musgraves recorded Star-Crossed with her Golden Hour collaborators Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, and described the record as a “modern-day tragedy” sequenced across three acts upon its announcement.

Watch Musgraves perform ‘Justified’ and ‘Camera Roll’ below. Other artists set to perform on SNL in the coming weeks include Halsey, Young Thug and Brandi Carlile.
