Emo is officially going black-tie. The Used have announced A Mid Summer Night’s Symphony – an exclusive, one-night-only performance with a full symphony orchestra and choir at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday, 29th March 2026.
It’s a massive first for the band, who’ve spent more than 25 years shaping the sound of emo, post-hardcore and alt-rock. From Warped Tour parking-lot chaos to one of the world’s most iconic stages.
The Used – ‘All That I’ve Got’
“The Sydney Opera House is one of the most prestigious venues in the world,” says frontman Bert McCracken, clearly buzzing. “And we will be playing there with full orchestra and choir! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for The Used and we couldn’t be more excited.”
The announcement follows their almost entirely sold-out 25th anniversary Australian tour across August and September this year, where they performed their first three albums – The Used (2002), In Love and Death (2004), and Lies for the Liars (2007) – in full on consecutive nights.
But next March, the band level up again, reimagining highlights from their extensive catalogue with sweeping arrangements, big cinematic flourishes, and all the emotional punch The Used have always delivered.
Since emerging from Utah in the early 2000s, The Used have remained one of the genre’s most influential forces. They’ve racked up four Billboard Top 10 debuts, ten Hot 100 singles, and countless festival anthems – ‘The Taste of Ink’, ‘Pretty Handsome Awkward’, ‘The Bird and the Worm’, I Caught Fire’ – songs that still ignite multi-generational singalongs at every show.
Their staying power is no accident. The band’s honesty, grit and melodic instinct have carried them through two decades of touring, lineup changes, reinvention and everything in between. They’ve got the OG fans, they’ve got the new wave of emo kids, and somehow they’re finding even more listeners as the years go on.
Before their Opera House debut, The Used will close out 2025 touring North America with Papa Roach, and 2026 will see them tick off Emo’s Not Dead Cruise, Sonic Temple, and a huge show with My Chemical Romance next October.
But the Opera House performance is surely the crown jewel. An emo milestone.
