Prepare for a full-blown throwback (and to feel really really old) because Illy is hitting the road to celebrate a decade of Two Degrees – aka one of the most iconic Aussie hip-hop albums of the 2010’s.
Announced today, The Two Degrees 10th Anniversary Tour will see Illy and his band revisit the ARIA #1 record in full, performing tracks live for the first time since 2016. And yep – we’re talking all the heavy hitters: Papercuts, Catch 22, Oh My, Hazard To Myself – the songs that soundtracked a very specific era of Australian music (and, let’s be honest, a lot of our questionable life choices).
Illy – ‘Papercuts’ (feat. Vera Blue)
Originally released in 2015, Two Degrees marked a major turning point for Illy – launching a run of three consecutive #1 albums and cementing his place as one of the country’s most successful crossover hip-hop artists. Now, ten years on, he’s keen to celebrate it properly with the fans who’ve been riding since day one.
Illy commented:
“I’m not one for looking back too often, but this milestone for “Two Degrees” is a moment worth celebrating with the people who it meant something to then, and still does to this day. I wouldn’t be here without them, and I look forward to playing ‘Two Degrees’, and some even deeper cuts from the back catalogue, for the first time in a long time, with the people who’ve been with me the longest”.
Fresh off a huge run supporting Hilltop Hoods on their sold-out arena tour (casual), and with new music on the horizon, this tour feels like both a victory lap and a reminder of just how stacked Illy’s catalogue really is.
