Look, we’ve been here before. But Californian punk shit-stirrers Guttermouth are once again declaring this is it – their final-ever Australian tour. No take-backsies. Probably. Maybe. Frontman Mark Adkins (who turns 60 this year, mind you) reckons he’s finally ready to hang it up after decades of chaos down under, declaring he’s “seen the beaches, the bars, the bans, the bullshit. I’ve partied, I’ve fought, I’ve blacked out in places I still can’t pronounce, enough is enough.”
Dubbed the Australia, One Last Time Tour, the run will hit seven cities this October (Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane) dragging along local degenerates Ebolagoldfish and Fake News for good measure.
“I’ve partied, I’ve fought, I’ve blacked out in places I still can’t pronounce, enough is enough” – Mark Adkins
“This tour tips its hat to the country that’s welcomed (and occasionally booted) them back forever,” declares a press statement. “So, grab a ticket if you’re game for one more round. Or don’t. Mark’s feet are up, cold one in hand, zero fucks left. This is it – ‘One Last Time,’ or whatever the hell comes next…”
Before you ask, this follows their other “final” Aussie tour a couple of years back. But hey, if any band has earned the right to cry wolf, it’s Guttermouth. Their history here is basically a highlight reel of venue bans, unhinged live shows and absolute carnage – and somehow, we keep coming back for more.
And tbh if history’s anything to go by, “final” might just mean “see you in a few years”. Guttermouth’s relationship with Australia has been gloriously unhinged – from their infamously disastrous 2013 “farewell” tour (packed with some, uh, very inebriated performances) to Mark Adkins’ post-tour spiral that somehow ended in a Mexican prison stint.
They bounced back with a redemption arc of sorts on 2015’s “less drunk” return – which still included publicly “firing” their Aussie publicist mid-tour, because of course it did. So yeah, believe this farewell at your own risk.
