Even Deftones aren’t immune to a little gravity after two straight years of near-constant touring.
Fresh off wrapping their massive Australian run withnInterpol this week, frontman Chino Moreno took a surprise tumble onstage during the band’s Auckland show – and, in a moment almost too perfectly on-the-nose to be real, it happened while performing Hole In The Earth:
Yep.
Fan footage (above) from the concert shows Moreno tripping and falling mid-song before quickly bouncing back to his feet and carrying on like an absolute professional, barely missing a beat as the band powered through the rest of the track.
Honestly? Respect. Most of us would need to leave the country after stacking it that publicly.
Thankfully, Moreno doesn’t appear to have been injured in the fall, and no official statement has been issued following the incident. If anything, it just added another chaotic little footnote to what’s already been a huge touring cycle for the band.
The Auckland performance marked the final stop of Deftones’ Australia and New Zealand tour, which saw the alt-metal icons tear through arenas across the region before heading off to Japan next. After that, the band will continue their seemingly never-ending world domination lap with another extensive European run kicking off in August.
At this point, the fact that Deftones are still performing at this level after nearly two full calendar years of touring is honestly pretty wild.
Still… maybe someone bubble-wrap Chino before the next leg, yeah?
