honestav Announces Return To Australia For Intimate ‘Sweet American Boy’ 2027 Tour

Earlier this year, honestav walked onto Australian arena stages supporting mgk. Less than twelve months later, he’s coming back to do it on his own terms.

The Missouri-born singer-songwriter has announced his return to Australia for January 2027, bringing his newly announced Sweet American Boy Tour to intimate club venues across Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Timed alongside the release of his forthcoming album Sweet American Boy – arriving this Friday – the run marks another major step in what’s become one of alternative music’s fastest-moving breakout stories.

For anyone who caught his Australian debut opening for mgk’s Lost Americana tour earlier this year, this feels like the natural next chapter.

Across the past few years, honestav (real name Avery Freeman) has quietly built one of the most devoted online followings in the alt world – first through his wildly successful Broke Boyfriend TikTok series (which racked up more than 160 million views), then through emotionally unfiltered songwriting that turned personal grief into connection.

His breakout single I’d Rather Overdose became a genuine phenomenon, eventually surpassing 157 million streams, earning RIAA Gold certification earlier this year and peaking on US alternative radio following a remix with MOD SUN. In a full-circle moment, that Gold plaque was later handed to him onstage by mgk at the final Australian show of their arena run.

Now, after recently releasing Crash First alongside mgk and announcing his first-ever global headline tour, honestav is bringing fans into smaller rooms for a set expected to pull from across his growing catalogue – from BAD GUY, Believe, Wasted and FKN Hate You through to brand new material from Sweet American Boy.

The new record arrives at what feels like a turning point.

Written during and after a year spent touring internationally, Sweet American Boy expands the raw vulnerability that first drew fans in while pushing further into honestav’s genre-fluid world of alternative, indie-folk, hip-hop and pop. Across 16 tracks, the album reportedly explores themes of family, addiction, grief, love and identity, documenting an artist navigating the weird space between where he came from and where success is taking him.

And after testing those songs in arenas earlier this year, Australia’s about to get to experience them the way they were probably designed to be heard: up close, loud and personal.
