Lorna Shore Name Their 5 Favourite Songs To Play Live

Lorna Shore are gearing up to unleash their biggest-ever Australian headline shows this October, graduating to some seriously enormous rooms after selling out their maiden headline run Down Under in 2025 and returning later that year to wreak havoc at Good Things Festival. This time around, the New Jersey deathcore juggernauts will hit Melbourne’s John Cain Arena, Adelaide’s AEC Theatre, Perth’s Metro City, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion and Brisbane’s Riverstage, with fellow US heavies Whitechapel and The Acacia Strain along for the ride.

So, with another bout of “face-ripping sonic armageddon” headed our way, what songs does Lorna Shore guitarist Adam De Micco actually get the biggest kick out of playing live? Ahead of the band’s Aussie return, we handed De Micco the proverbial aux cord and asked him to talk us through five of his current live faves – from the song he uses to gauge whether a crowd is truly cooking, to the technically brutal number that briefly has him believing in divine intervention every time its guitar solo rolls around. Read his words down below!

1. ‘Oblivion’

Adam De Micco: “In no particular order, Oblivion is the first song I’d pick that I really like to play live. That was probably one of my favourite songs when we wrote it and I was excited to play it. Even though it’s our first song that we’ve added into the set, I still enjoy playing it like when we first started playing it last year. It’s definitely still one of my favorite songs to play. We usually have been opening up the set with it, and it’s quite enjoyable to start off the set with a song like that.”

2. ‘War Machine’

Adam De Micco: “Another one would be War Machine, I love playing that one. I feel like I could turn my brain off for a moment in that song, I’ll embrace those sorts of songs as much as I can. But aside from being able to turn my brain off, it is just a lot of fun to play on guitar. You can actually just enjoy yourself. I love a lot of the guitar riffs too. And the crowd engagement’s been really awesome since we started playing it too. I think unanimously, across the board when we first started playing it, everyone in the band was just like, “this is a lot of fun to play”. And I was like, “awesome, because I’m having fun playing it!”. Nothing’s worse than when there’s a song that you love to play and other people are like, “that is my least favorite song”. Then it’s definitely a fight to try to figure out what to play in the set when someone’s like, “I love this song,” and someone else is like, “I hate this song”. But we all love War Machine.“

3. ‘Prison Of Flesh’

Adam De Micco: “After that, this is a love/hate for me because it’s definitely one of the most difficult songs in the set, but I’ll say Prism of Flesh next. It is a very difficult and challenging song, very technically demanding. The guitar solo is… I’m not really a religious person, but at that point in time I believed in a little bit of religion to get me through that moment for those 16 bars, for someone to help me out! It’s a very technically demanding song, but when I nail it, I feel amazing. And it also is really cool because I feel like how it’s been placed in this set is usually after a lot of the lighter songs so I feel like it changes the mood of the show after that. It’s really awesome to go from a lighter, softer side of us to a completely opposite end of the spectrum. And for me personally, I just definitely enjoy it. I enjoy the vibe. I enjoy the energy of it. It’s a song I love to play, but it’s also a very hard song to play. Sometimes I’m like, “I hate playing this”. But genuinely, I still love playing it.”

4. ‘Sun//Eater’

Adam De Micco: “I’ll bring it back to another older song for another favourite here. I think it’s one of the oldest songs in the set, or the song we probably have been playing consistently on almost every single tour, and that song is Sun//Eater. I love Sun//Eater because we released it four years ago, back in 2022, and we’ve been playing it nonstop for all four years. I just love playing it. It’s really cool because a lot of people know that song, and it’s just awesome to see a crowd’s reaction to that one. It’s also a high energy song, it’s another fast song. People have always reacted very positively to it, we always keep it in the middle of the set so it keeps the energy going. I can always tell if the show’s going to be good or not, because if we get to that song and the energy sucks? It’s going to be a rough one. You never know at the beginning of the set, you’re like, “the crowd could still be getting warmed up”. You just don’t know. But by Sun//Eater, if I know for a fact that the crowd is not into it, I’m like, “this is going to be a rough one”. But there’s been many, many times where I’ve been like, “it’s going to be a rough show”. And then we’d get to Sun//Eater and it completely changes the dynamic of the show. It’s still a fun song for me to play.”

5. ‘Into The Earth’

Adam De Micco: “For my last favourite song…if you ask me this at different times of the year, I’d have a completely different answer. But as of right now, I’m going to say Into the Earth. I’ll go with Into the Earth because we have to get back into playing it. I’ve been practicing it. I’m excited because it feels like a new novelty again at the moment. We haven’t played for a few tours now. And same situation like with Prison of Flesh, it’s a love/hate thing. When you nail it, you feel on top of the world; when you don’t, you want to cry in your bunk and forget the day existed. But we hope it favours in the direction of loving. I’ve been practicing this one a lot, I’m excited to play it on this tour in the States we have coming up after all this time. I’m excited, but who knows? Maybe in a month I’ll be like, “I don’t want to play that song ever again!” (laughs). And similar to Oblivion, Into the Earth was one of my favorite songs on Pain Remains, and Oblivion was one of my favorite songs on I Feel the Everblack Festering Within Me. It’s always cool to have some personal favorites that we play more often, they’re really enjoyable to have in the set. As of right now, in the middle of the summer for me, these are my five songs I enjoy playing live.”
