So this is the first post on this new blog that I will be curating, and I’ve been asked to make a small introductory statement. I hate introductory statements.
The whole idea that an idea needs introduction seems pretty stupid to me really, why not just experience it for what it is and seek clarification later if you’re confused? I always though reading the introduction to a book is a really good way to ruin it. I guess it makes sense in terms of a blog, so that you lovelly readers out there can get an idea of what I may be offering you in future posts, but still, I resent it. All I ask is that you trust me. That you trust me and you love me actually… is that too much to ask?
This blog, named after a song off David Byrne and Brian Eno’s My Life In The Bush of Ghosts, is meant to serve a dual purpose. One, to act as a home for all the interviews and articles that I’d love to write but often can’t find a publisher to take them on, and two as monument to my own vanity and ravenous ego. I’m not really selling this too well am I? Well let’s get a bit more specific.
Aside from interviews that I have done with artists such as Gareth Liddiard of The Drones, John Maus and HTRK, this site will also play host to exclusive live recordings of local bands, video interviews and live footage, reviews, photos, guest bloggers and pretty much anything else you could imagine to host online. Part carefully considered criticism, and part confused inflammatory rants (hopefully from others within the local community rather than me), this blog will aim to entertain while still make a point worth making.
I encourage all of you to take to the comments section to tell me what you think of these articles as genuine criticism is hard to come by these days, and hell, if you make a good enough point I’ll even give you your own rebuttal post to whatever nonsense of mine you’ve taken offense to.
Well that’s more than enough of this, but before I leave you let me first say that everything on this site is written with the explicit understanding it’s probably wrong in some way or another. I’m writing from my gut here, telling it how I see it rather than how it really is and often just to get the thoughts out so that I can test them against some hopefully keener intellects that my own, as well as the inevtiable swathe of dull minds that are sure to wash up on this page.
I’d like to finish by stating my ethos though. Everyone is a cunt, especially me. Let’s stop pretending otherwise and let each other know what we really think. Now sleep baby, sleep.
