Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins is getting all dolled up like the godfather of punk rock Iggy Pop in an upcoming film about historic New York punk rock club CBGB, and a recent publicity shot (below) sees Taylor in full Iggy mode posing next to actor/model Malin Akerman, getting her Blondie on as Debbie Harry.
CBGB, located in Manhattan, played a pivotal role in the emerging punk rock and new wave scene of the ’70s, which might explain while Taylor’s belt hasn’t been looped through his jeans. Perhaps he should attach an onion to that belt, as was the style at the time.
As Feeds has previously reported, CBGB will depict some of music’s most revered names, such as Joey Ramone and Lou Reed, while CBGB club founder Hilly Kristal will be played by Alan Rickman.
What do you think? Striking resemblance? Failed stunt casting? You can make a definitive verdict later in 2013 when the film is released.
