Given how hot the topic currently is, it was only a matter of time before Ellen threw the question of Richie Sambora’s departure from the Bon Jovi tour while interviewing the band’s front man. Clearly uncomfortable discussing the issue, Jon Bon Jovi has shed a bit more light on the situation, while still leaving plenty of room for speculation.
As you can see in the below video, Jon hesitates before explaining “Okay…well…all I can say is that, honest to God, it’s a personal matter, but we love him very much and he’s absolutely still a member of the band.” This doesn’t give too much to go on as ‘personal matters’ have been blamed previously, but it also adds fuel to rumours that there is some sort of Yoko Ono-type tension happening within the band’s camp.
The drama is once again referenced when Ellen questions the iconic rocker on what it is exactly that makes the legendary rock outfit work so well. Bon Jovi suggests:
“We like each other, I think that was really the key. We all had to have a lot of give and take; you had to go through some ups and downs. In the big picture you had to really like each other so you could go to work.”
