Inbetweeners Stars Will Feature In New Series ‘Chickens’

Two of the stars of the award-winning British sitcom, The Inbetweeners, will reunite for a new six-part series, Chickens.

Joe Thomas (who played ‘Simon Cooper’) and Simon Bird (who played ‘Will McKenzie’) have co-written a wartime sitcom with Jonny Sweet.

The plot revolves around three young men who refuse to fight in the First World War. It has been picked up by Sky1 and is due to air in 2013.

Lucy Lumsden, Head of Comedy at Sky1, said: “We have fallen in love with those naughty chickens. We are delighted to give such a talented bunch a home.”

Thomas said: “We feel like it is a rich setting and the advantage of writing about the past, we know there is stuff we can draw on.”

The Inbetweeners television series featured four socially awkward 18-year-olds and was widely popular. A movie, released in Nov last year, was also successful and there has been speculation there may be a sequel.
