SNL’s Cult Action Spoof ‘MacGruber’ Is Getting A Spinoff Series, Ya Friggin’ Turds

If you haven’t seen Saturday Night Live‘s cooked 2010 action-comedy MacGyver spoof starring Will Forte, Kristen Wiig, Val Kilmer and Ryan Phillippe — MacGruber — then shut your butt and watch it right now because you’re missing out on some high-octane lols.

Then, you have permission to rejoice. Because the cult film is getting revived in the form of a spinoff series, with Will Forte signing back on to play the titular mullet-sporting throat-ripper as well as writing and executive producing the whole shebang.

In fact, Season 1 of MacGruber will reassemble much of the crew from the OG movie, but no other casting has been announced at this stage, outside of ya man Forte.

What we do know is that series’ first season will include eight 30-minute episodes, set 10 years after the events of the film.

“After rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber is finally released,” the series’ press release teases.

“His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past — Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber must race against time to defeat the forces of evil – only to find that evil… may be lurking within.”

It’s set to premiere in 2021 on US streaming service Peacock. No word yet on where you’ll be able to get your eyeballs on it here in Australia, but we’ll keep you posted.

Until then, you can get hyped on the teaser below.
