The 411: Flower Face is the project of 24 year old Canadian musician Ruby Mckinnon. Flower Face’s new album, The Shark In Your Water, is McKinnon’s third full length release under the alias. Her debut, Fever Dreams, came out when the artist was just 18 years old. Album two, Baby Teeth, followed in 2018. Flower Face has recorded more than 20 million Spotify streams over the past five years and received critical acclaim from Alternative Press and Under the Radar.

Review: McKinnon’s delicate vocals and imagistic lyrics remain at the centre of The Shark In Your Water. But the record boasts more expansive production than previous Flower Face releases, giving songs such as ‘Spiracle’ and the recent single, ‘Cornflower Blue’, a cinematic resonance. The album’s lead single, ‘Back to You’, is a gently plucked acoustic number with an air of nostalgia that’s reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens.
