Know Your Lineup: Soundwave 2015, Part 1

Fans of heavy music nationwide rejoiced this morning as the first Soundwave 2015 lineup was finally announced. The long-awaited reveal unleashed a formidable roster of talent, which features Faith No More, Soundgarden, Slipknot, Slash, Incubus, Marilyn Manson, Fall Out Boy, and more .

As everyone knows by now, Soundwave 2015 will be the beloved hard rock festival’s first year as a two-day event. The 2015 tour will kick off in Adelaide and Melbourne, who’ll be sharing the launch weekend, before the next weekend brings Soundwave to Brisbane and Sydney.

The lineup that’s now been dubbed Day 1 — all of which you can check out by clicking through the gallery below — will hit up Adelaide on Saturday, 21st February, Melbourne on Sunday, 22nd February, Sydney on Saturday, 28th February, and Brisbane on Sunday, 1st March.

For your convenience, we’ve also had a closer look at the bands who’ll be topping the bill on Day 1, so that fans can get to know their lineup a little better before February finally rolls around. And don’t forget, this is just to start. There’s still “around 14 bands” left over for the second announcement.

Faith No More

The recently reactivated alt-metal heroes last played Soundwave in 2010, and between their very promising tweets and new songs, they seem to have been instilled with a new verve since that tour. Indeed, there’s never been a better time to have Faith No More as your headliners.

Don’t believe us? Just check out their most recent tweet: “The Reunion Tour is over; in 2015 things are going to change.” We’ll leave you to speculate on what that means, but considering the guys are looking to get “creative,” we wouldn’t be surprised if they air some new tunes at Soundwave.

Soundgarden

Pearl Jam, Green River, Mudhoney, the Nirvana guys, Alice In Chains, they all know the kind of influence that we had,” Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil recently told us. This will be the first time these architects of ’90s rock perform in front of a Soundwave crowd and it’s sure to be memorable.

Incubus

The name Incubus will forever be synonymous with late ’90s and early ’00s alternative rock and anybody who was paying attention can tell you why. With a discography that spans almost two decades, the California group remain one of alt-rock’s most treasured and in-demand bands.

Lamb Of God

Fear not, metalheads. Soundwave have heard your cries and have now quashed them with the mighty riffs and unmistakable vocals of Richmond, Virginia’s finest. Come February, Lamb of God will be reminding punters why Maddah just had to bring them back to complete their Soundwave hat-trick.

Ministry

Darker than Nine Inch Nails, heavier than Rob Zombie, and more tongue-in-cheek than Rammstein, Ministry rule industrial music like feudal warlords. Their first time on a Soundwave bill is sure to be a momentous tour, as they’re celebrating their final studio album, From Beer to Eternity.

Recent Setlist: Ghouldiggers / No W / Rio Grande Blood / LiesLiesLies / 99 Percenters / Watch Yourself / Life Is Good / Waiting / Relapse / The Last Sucker / Khyber Pass / Psalm 69 / N.W.O. / Just One Fix / Thieves / So What / United Forces
